By the beginning of 2024, more than half of the world’s population will be using social media. For many developing countries, social media is a window into a world that they know little about or want to know more about.
An example of this being used is when churches used advertisements on Facebook that the parish pastor could pray for a specific prayer topic and when you submit the prayer topic in Messenger, a prayer (recorded via mobile) is sent in response.
A church of 35 members received 352 prayer topics in 3 months and 42 new families planned to visit the church.
John-Erik Moseler, who has worked with companies such as Disney, Pixar and NASA, expresses the church’s relationship with social media as follows: “Social media is about listening”.
“The church has the opportunity to start building for Sunday through social media and have a dialogue about this. I think it is the new front door to the church.”
